My Parents

Can you stand a couple more OLD family photos? With Judy sending me all these treasures, I'm feeling a little nostalgic. Here are a couple of snap shots of Bill and Lois Vance. Mom was getting water out of Groundhog Lake. And check out those rolled down socks my daddy has on. What does he have on... a uniform?

Family Portrait

Judy, Jill, Bill & Lois Vance and Jany. A family portrait that I never knew existed. Judy found a treasure trove of slides in the top of a cabinet.

Family Photos...

Imagine at age 48 someone gives you a glimpse into your childhood. My sister who has moved back to the old home place, found a cache of slides in the cupboards above the washer and dryer. She has been going through them and taking the keepers to someone that can burn a CD for us all. The photos she has sent, were like a recovered memory. Such a warm feeling, but strangely unfamiliar. Between the three of us, we can piece together what we thought were the circumstances for the photos...but having never seen these slides before, the memories surrounding them have faded.

Daddy

My dad was a unique character. I don't remember this photo, or the playfulness that it suggests. He always was playful with other peoples children, and I do remember riding horsey...but not often. That's me in the red jammies. ( I do remember them) and my sister Jany.

My Grand Biscuit

The Mariachi band was all teenagers. In addition to the music, they had dance moves and were very entertaining.

Wow Gram, that salsa is spicy.

We got to spend the day with my precious JaiceyBelle. She is such a good kid. Fun to be around a kid that never whines or makes a fuss. She is awesome.

Gruene Hall

Just have to wonder how many famous and not so famous folks we have shared this hall with. If these walls could talk. (Top photo by Rob)

Becky and Paul as we were leaving.

Los Lonely Boys

Friday night in Gruene, Texas was beautiful. I don't know where you were, but we were sitting in balmy weather having a ball. The Famous Gruene Hall that has been standing over 100 years was filled to the hog wire, but our table and bench right outside was the perfect vantage point. We could stand up and see the band... or just sit and listen (which is what I did) We started the evening a the Gristmill for dinner, and then walked the 50 yards to the old hall. The opening band Del Castillo was lively and exciting. That latin guitar is just amazing. Los Lonely boys, aka The Garza brothers were as small town friendly as you can imagine. Right down to the telephone call from their mom right in the middle of the show. "Ma, I'm doin' a show"... So cute. I must give credit for a couple of the band photos to our new friend Rob who drove with is mother from Abilene to see the show. I think she would be a groupie in another life.
