Giving Thanks

As most of you know my sister Judy came and babysat me the first week home from my bionic hip replacement. That my friends, is the most wonderful gift I've ever received. It was a huge sacrifice on her part, and her families. I haven't felt that kind of love since my mother died. It is a precious memory that makes me puddle up every time I think of it. I'm thankful for her. I'm thankful for the house full of friends and family, and those that are miles away. I love them all. I'm thankful for the prayers that were answered this summer for Brooke's mom. I'm thankful for the science, talent and healing that has allowed me to walk without pain. I'm thankful that Carlos is home from the big sand box. I'm thankful that the Lord allows us to survive the pain of loosing Jason, and restores our joy in the wake of sorrow. I'm thankful for my precious grandbiscuit. She is a constant reminder to be optimistic.
Happy Thanksgiving Y'all

Nevermind the hip

At the end of a really long day.... my leg was starting to swell, so I excused myself to the bedroom to elevate the leg. My children, thinking that I might be trying to rest, desended on me. Of course with this crew there was no laying still, being calm... WWF might better describe the action that insued.

Logan's First Turkey

I didn't think there would be a Thanksgiving this year at our house. Me sporting my new Titanium Hip, and not yet 100%. But Logan volunteered. She did the whole thing. 25 lbs Turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean cassarole a dozen different kinds of pies. All done at 12:05 and tasting wonderful. We had a house full of boys, plus Aunt Becky, Sandra and Uncle Jimmy.

Among the living

Thank you Wendy and family for the pretty flowers. It really is lovely and the lily is about to bloom today. I am home from the hospital . Becky drove up and brought me home on Saturday. My sister Judy drove down from New Mexico to babysit this week, and I sure am glad she did. While all my wonderful friends were volunteering to take turns, they all work, and we were all relieved that Judy could be her for all the little moments.
I am still not leaving the house.. but I do get up and walk. Sitting has been the biggest obstacle. Judy has wrangled up some different chairs, but swelling makes sitting very long uncomfortable. But every day I get better. I will leave it there... and write more when I can sit longer.

Worlds Best Dog

We are not really dog people, but we are the owners of the world's best, Hayden. She doesn't bark unless something is wrong, she is calm and sweet, and tolerant of her people. Best of all, she kills rodents. Yep, she is a good dog.

Family

Thank you Lord for bringing my sister and brother-in-law back to this part of the world. I know Portales is still 500 miles away, but you can get there in a day. So for however brief, my sister and I get visits. She and Don came down to pick-up a motor home they found on Craigslist. Hope to get to spend the night in it before too long. Perhaps at a watercolor workshop.

Now Jany...on the other hand... needs to come visit.

George and Gracie

I had gotten used to looking at these two adorable kids driving their mom's truck. I sent them back to New Mexico with Judy and Don on Saturday. I got up this morning to go through the pile of mail collecting on the counter, and found a check from their owner.Thank you so much Tish. You are my very first customer.
