Another Era

Bo and OP3 went to an 8th grade dance last night. Omar represented the 50s while Bo was our Hippie. I think they had a good time... no dancing but perhaps if we get them used to going they will eventually dance. I keep telling them that girls like boys that dance...but I am a mom... so what do I know.

Yes, we did take our 13 year old sons to a honky tonk. But it was for a good reason. Waco was unable to get the NFL network. So... had to go some place.

Cowboy Game

When your cabel company won't show the Cowboy vs. Green Bay Game you have to do what you have to do. We all went to the Hogg Creek Ice House and enjoyed the evening with the Pachecanos and half of Waco.

Thanksgiving Reunion in Cuero

Well, thanks Wendy for pulling this all together. She worked hard and made this a goodtime for all. I didn't get many photos as my camera was low on power, so if anyone of you got some you can send me... that would be great. Ofcourse there was plenty of food, and the fried turkeys(3) were absolutely fab. I never ate turkey that tasted so good. Uncle Jimmy had injected them with some spices and they were so moist.
Everyone had a great time. Wendy came from Washington State and Scott came from Wisconson, so they win the prize for farthest trip.
Perhaps next year I can get my family together.

Wendy and Brian's little boy Asa was only a few months older than JaiceyBelle. But at this age the Boy genes vs. the Girl genes are quite evident. She was quite happy building the block towers... and gathering them up when Asa bulldozed them. The are so cute aren't they.

Uncle Jimmy, Marvin my father-in-law and Paul. The new barn saved our Thanksgiving reunion. It was oh so cold and dizzly all day long.

There were a couple of tabels of dominos going on. The floor on this part was stained and stamped. Uncle Jimmy is building this part of the barn out with two bedrooms and living quarters.

Although we had a big insulated barn to have the gathering in... most of the story telling was done outside in the covered parking area where we fried the turkeys. We had the burner going so we avoided frost bite. Here Scott the cousin that welds pipelines in Wisconsin is on the left with Perry and Paul

Living Among the Soldiers

If you notice, there is a new link to the right. It is an "old" blog, but once you start reading it... you'll be hooked I'm sure. Jim Spiri was a friend to my dad. My dad had a great respect for Jim, and admired his faith. Jim spoke at my father funeral.
Jim and Candi have spent the last chapter of their lives in Iraq. Living, working and befriending our soldiers. When you have a moment, check out the blog and read how the soldiers live day to day.

Burger King - What are you thinking?

I must protest. Have you seen the new Burger King ads that portray a group of mothers out to do the King in? The one we saw last night had them trying to run him down with a car. Are they crazy? This isn't funny. Not even a bit. Do our children not see enough violence? Leave us mom's out of it.
I tried to locate an email address to send them a letter of protest, but they don't make anything like that public. Perhaps if they had a way for customers to contact them, they would have a better idea of what the we wanted. Seems they have been going through ad agencies like left and right. Please join me in protesting this ad campaign.

Art

You know I just love the new art they are putting on these trailers. This one was sitting at the Valero station as I filled up with gas last week. It was an extremely foggy day, and this big red hibiscus was a post-card from my daddy. Who can think of him without thinking of that patio of hibiscus in bloom. He was so proud of all his flowers.

Success

I'm not sure how others measure success, but in our house it's the small things. Several months ago we switched away from TXU electricity. Then Last month we had the new air-conditioning unit installed. Well I got my first electric bill that is totally New Unit and totally Stream Energy conbined. $156. Just amazing. Such a blessing. Of course my stinking water bill is $209 for no reason! ARG.
