Still Painting

Found this little wrangler at the Clifton Fall Festival. He was so cute. I think I may have added more color since I took this, but I haven't posted in so long I didn't want you to think I was out of the notion. I just don't have a computer working at the house anymore.

Weekend to Remember

As most of you know, a couple of months ago I took up painting. I got jealous of my friend Tony Deluz (see link at right). We went to college together, and his paintings have continued to improve over the years. While I myself, haven't painted at all. I decided that I better start painting... so perhaps when I retired, I could be experienced, if not good. My mom's watercolors had be left to me over 16 years ago. So I'm painting with pigment she squeezed from the tube. (sic)
Well this weekend Paul encouraged me to enter a couple of my litte watercolors in a little art show in Clifton, TX. It is a quaint little town that is reinventing it's self with ART at the heart of it.
Well, low and behold... I won best of show. You could have knocked me over with a feather. The painting titled Lilly and Foxy took the prize. It's kind of washed out in this photo, but I wanted to get that ribbon in there. If at all possible, I think Paul was more excited than I was. Now I know I might not win another one of those in a long time...but still feels good.

Meteorites

The last few times we have been exploring out at the dry creek beds, Paul has found meteorites. This last one was pretty good sized. I think the 1970s formica counter top makes a nice background for meteorites. It would make an even better impact site...but we won't go there. We are very thankful for what we have. If I get the urge to remodel I will go stand in my bathroom. But this will thrill you all. I have a propane tank being delivered on the 15th, WITH propane in it. WE WILL HAVE HEAT. I know I complained a lot last winter, but we stayed pretty warm. Except that weekend after Thanksgiving.... that was bitter.

Yes... I finally found a mirror that would work. It doesn't match exactly, and it isn't really what I was looking for, but it works, and now I can do my hair in my own bathroom. It almost matches the little inset of tile. Now folks... if I could get some one to hang towel rods and mount my hardware, the bathroom project will be done.

Another "Hardy" Boy

So sorry for the delay between entries. I have just fallen in love with painting. Seems like I'm learning something new everytime I sit down. It has been a longtime since I felt this feeling of achievement. I don't know if I like this guy's face, but I love the way the paint moved on his hat. Painting a big ole chaw in someone's lip feels wrong. So I'm using this as my public service announcement. Please don't use smokeless tobacco. What if someone, somewhere is trying to paint you... Don't you see how distorted it makes your lip.

Paul and I got up this morning and on the way to our Mexican breakfast at Jalisco's we stopped by a garage sale. I got a whole arm load of framed prints and mats to use for my new watercolors. Two bucks a piece.

Baylor vs. OU

If you know me, you know I didn't go to the Baylor game to root for the home team. I went to people watch. I got several good snapshots of kids I will try and paint. . . so it was a good day. My friends Carolyn and Omar invited us, and we jumped at the chance. Who knew... we might get to see Baylor beat the number one team in the poles. hahahahaha. We left kinda early to make it to my MRI. Let me tell you, for me, the Open MRI is the way to go. Slept throught it.
